Wagner, Dorothy

Dorothy “Jane” Wagner, 92, of Festus died July 2, 2017, at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis County. Mrs. Wagner was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal City, a life member of VFW Post 3777 Auxiliary and a member of American Legion 253 Auxiliary. She was an avid bowler, bridge player and St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Born Sept. 8, 1924, in Shelbina, she was the daughter of the late Sue (Rash) and Elbert Bierly. She was preceded in death by her husband: Harlan Leon Wagner.

She is survived by two sons: Don (Josalyn Moran) Wagner of Festus and Doug (Martha) Wagner of St. Louis; a sister-in-law: Joan Bierly of Shelbina; four grandchildren: Kristen Rene Wagner, Kathryn Elizabeth Wagner, Kayce Lynne (Derek) Carter and Michael Burch; and five great-grandchildren: Tyler and Jax Wagner and Morgan, Lexi and Gavin Carter.

She also was preceded in death by a son: Robert Wagner; two sisters: Nora Belle (the late John) Pence and Pauline (the late Bob) Freeman; and a brother: Thomas Bierly.

Visitation is at 10 a.m. and a funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, July 7, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 220 Brierton, in Crystal City, officiated by the Rev. Jarold Rux. Burial is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
