Dorothy B.E. Powers, 79, of De Soto died Jan. 16, 2014, at Scenic View Nursing Facility in Herculaneum. Mrs. Powers was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in De Soto. She volunteered delivering for Meals on Wheels. Born March 25, 1934, in New London, Conn., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Jane (Reed) Lewis.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert Powers of De Soto; and a brother: Sam Lewis of Norwalk, Calif. She was preceded in death by four siblings: Marian McKeever, Harry Lewis, Robert Lewis and Herbert Lewis.
Funeral services were held Jan. 20 at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto, officiated by the Rev. Steve Richardson. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements were under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
