Dorothy Ann “Dotti” Ganey, 75, of Hillsboro died Feb. 18, 2018, at Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur. Mrs. Ganey was a speech and language therapist who served as director of the Children’s Learning and Rehabilitation Center in Pevely. She was a member of Our Lady Catholic Church in Festus and taught kindergarten, second, and third grades at Our Lady School. She loved singing, gardening, reading, quilting, traveling and family get-togethers. Born June 1, 1942 in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Dorothy (O’Leary) and Charles A. Schuessler.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years: Thomas J. Ganey Jr.; four children: Julie (Brad) Harbaugh of Chicago, Christopher (Michelle) Ganey of Festus, Rosemary Ganey of St. Louis and Emily (Jerry) Thompson of Santa Ana, Calif.; a brother: Phillip (Peg) Schuessler of Crest Hill, Ill.; and five grandchildren: Owen and Olivia Thompson of Santa Ana, Dorothy Harbaugh of Chicago and Elizabeth and Camilla Ganey of Festus.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23, at Our Lady Catholic Church, 1550 Saint Mary’s Lane, in Festus. Burial service will follow at 2 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Belleville, Ill. Memorials may be made to Our Lady Catholic School. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
