Doris Jean Zimmermann, 85, of St. Louis died June 24, 2017, in St. Louis. Mrs. Zimmermann was a switchboard operator at St. Joseph’s Hospital and a member of Assumption Catholic Church in south St. Louis County. She was born Sept. 26, 1931, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Anna (Schulte) and Richard Lehmkuhl. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years: August Zimmermann.
She is survived by four children: Susan (Charles) Gibson of Imperial, JoAnn (John) Owens of Chesterfield, Jim Zimmermann of Madera Beach, Fla., and Greg (Christy) Zimmermann of House Springs; three siblings: Laverne Chaney of St. Louis, Richard (Marvella) Lehmkuhl of St. Louis and Rita Czako of Orange, Conn.; two sisters-in-law: Laverne McMaster of St. Louis and Betty Zimmermann of Waterloo, Ill.; five grandchildren: Cara (Jason) Sapienza of Pevely; Crista (Jason) Bahr of Imperial, Christopher Owens of Chesterfield, Angela Owens of Kansas City and Holley Zimmermann of House Springs; and four great-grandchildren: Luke and Ryker Bahr of Imperial and Carlie and Giuliana Sapienza of Pevely.
She was preceded in death by three siblings: Marie (Ted) Sienkiewicz, Marcella (Warren) Blackwood, and Tom Lehmkuhl; and five brothers-in-law: Al Czako, Richard and Norbert Zimmermann, Robert Chaney and Hugh McMaster.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Monday, June 26, at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, south St. Louis County. Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, at the funeral home, followed by Mass at Assumption Catholic Church, 7425 Mattis Road, south St. Louis County, officiated by Father Thomas Keller. Burial will be at the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
