Donnell Lee “Duck” DeGeare, 84, of Herculaneum died July 15, 2019, at Festus Manor Nursing Center. Mr. DeGeare was a was a retired machine operator at Temple-Inland Container Corp. in Fenton and a member of the printers union. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Herculaneum, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Crystal City and the National Rifle Association. Born Oct. 19, 1934, in Crystal City, he was the son of the late Lucy (Pullen) and John Vincent DeGeare.
He is survived by his wife: Mary Sue (Riolo) DeGeare; a daughter: Yvonne (Cloyd) Nickless of Festus; two sons: Gerald (Deanne) DeGeare of Columbia, Ill. and Thomas (Shirley) DeGeare; a brother: Lee Roy DeGeare; four grandchildren: Amy (Scott) Nickless-Pauley, Nolan DeGeare and Collin and Carter Enke; and numerous family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by two siblings: Truett (the late Carrie Ellen) DeGeare and Willa Mae (the late Earl) Bequette; and a sister-in-law: Laverne DeGeare.
A memorial service was held July 20 at Vinyard Funeral Home, officiated by Father. Mathew Cheruparambil. Memorials may be made to the Animal Protective Association Adoption Center, 1705 S. Hanley Road, St. Louis MO 63144, or the Director of Advancement, University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, West 210 Veterinary Medicine Building, Columbia MO 65211. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home, Festus.
