Wentz, Donald

Donald Thomas Wentz, 82, of Imperial died June 12, 2017, at his home. Mr. Wentz was a retired residential architectural draftsman, primarily employed with Bert Barklage Inc. and Landmark Building and Reality, both of Washington, Mo.; Profile Systems Inc., a Division of the Maune Company of St. Louis; and Cole Contracting of Jefferson County.  Along with designing and building his own home, he enjoyed automotive tinkering, woodworking, camping and photography.  He had a life-long appreciation for nature and was a member of St. John Catholic Church. Born Nov. 10, 1934, he was the youngest son of the late Edward B. and Frances D. (Krueger) Wentz.

Mr. Wentz is survived by his wife of 59 years: Imelda “Mel” (Dittmaier) Wentz; three children: Barbara (John) Egbert of Cape Girardeau, Steven Wentz of Imperial and Philip (Tara) Wentz of Fenton; three grandchildren: Brian Egbert, Alex Wentz and Samantha Wentz; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by six brothers: Edward V. (Elsie), Paul, Eugene, Raymond, Robert (Betty and Dorothy), and Harold (Marilyn, Bernadine, and Ann).

A funeral service was held June 16 at St. John Catholic Church in Imperial. Burial was in the St. John Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Gateway Hemophilia Association, 4976 Eichelberger, St. Louis, 63109; or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Honor Mr. Wentz’s memory by drinking a cup of coffee, feeding the hummingbirds and cardinals, and watching for deer and other wild animals. Arrangements were under the direction of Kutis Funeral Home in south St. Louis County.
