Strange, Donald

Donald L. Strange, 85, of Hillsboro died Oct. 1, 2018. Mr. Strange was a member and  past exalted ruler at the High Ridge Elks lodge and was a member of the De Soto Elks lodge. He also was a member and the former president of the VFW Men’s Auxiliary in Cedar Hill. He enjoyed yard work, cutting wood, watching sports and playing pool. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Born July 14, 1933, in Eldon, he was the son of  the late Jessie and Viola (Ledbetter) Strange.

He is survived by his wife: Glenda Strange; four children: Donald Lynn (Barbara) Strange, Rob (Elizabeth) Darner, Christine Maloney and Jesse (Andrea) Strange; nine grandchildren: Amy Kent, Stephanie Strange, Lindsay Hermann, Emily Graus, Molly Darner, Brandon Maloney, Alex O’Keene, Cole Strange and Lucas Strange; eight great-grandchildren:, Faithlyn Young, Layla Dawson, Landon Kent, Olivia Phillips, Ava Darner, Ava Marie Maloney, Edward Rhett O’Keene and Ella O’Keene; two siblings: Truman Strange and Grace Kallenbach; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son: Edward O’keene; a granddaughter: Jessica Darner; and a brother: Leon Strange.

A funeral service was held Oct. 5 at Chapel Hill Mortuary in Cedar Hill. Burial was in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements were under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
