Rogers, Donald

Donald L. Rogers, 84, of De Soto died Jan. 17, 2020, at his home. Mr. Rogers was a retired machinist with McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft. He was an active volunteer with De Soto Senior Citizens. He was a member of the C.I.A. Hall, the De Soto Lions Club, and of the Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery Board. He was an avid fan of country music and loved dancing. Born Feb. 19, 1935, in De Soto, he was the son of the late Lola (Hileman) and Thomas P. Rogers Sr. He was preceded in death by two wives: Shirley J. (Davis) Rogers and Pauline (Boyer) Rogers.

He is survived by seven children: Donald E. (Sue) Rogers of Glendale, Ariz., David A. (Kathy Johnston) Rogers of Fort Worth, Texas, David J. Williams of De Soto, Raymond L. (Shirley) Williams of Bonne Terre, Cheryl (David) Ketcherside of De Soto, Donna (James) Cornman of Perryville and Kathleen Townsend of St. Louis; a sister: Gladys Watson of Victoria; dear friends Judy Jackson and Bonnie Ruengert; 12 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and numerous other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by three infant children; a brother: Thomas P. Rogers; four sisters: Nancy Wall, Grace Crammer, Shirley Duncan and Delores Brown, five brothers-in-law: Glen Watson, Edward Crammer, Charles Wall, Dennis Duncan and Kenneth Brown; and a great-granddaughter: Ava Williams.

A funeral service was held Jan. 21 at Oakland Baptist Church in De Soto, officiated by Ron Barton. Burial was in Oakland Baptist Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 460 N. Lindbergh, St. Louis, 63141. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
