Donald Joseph Geatley, 86, of Byrnesville, died Oct. 28, 2017. Mr. Geatley was an active member of the community, serving on the Jefferson County Planning and Zoning Board, a Meramec Democratic Committeeman and a 52-year member and past president of the House Springs Lions Club. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was born Sept. 21,1931, and lived his entire life on the family farm in Byrnesville that his grandfather, Squire Geatley, settled in the 1800s.
He is survived by his wife: Hally Geatley; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by five siblings: Rose Marie Franken, Lucille Goettelman, Joan Jost, Francis Geatley, and Margaret Wille.
Mr. Geatley chose to donate his body to science. A memorial gathering will be held at 5:30 p.m. and a memorial Mass at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 4696 Notre Dame Lane, in House Springs. Memorials may be made to the House Springs Lions or to Our Lady Queen of Peace.
