Donald E. Yount, 88, of Festus died Sept. 12, 2019, at Crystal Oaks Nursing Center. Mr. Yount was a retired butcher for Swift Meat Processing Plant and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, St Louis Cardinal baseball and spending time with his grandchildren. Born June 15, 1931, in Hiram, he was the son of the late Elmer and Gertrude (Matthews) Yount.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years: Eula (Vannoy) Yount; two sons: Charles (Denise) Yount of Festus and Harold Yount of Festus, two daughters: Barbara (Larry) Gebhardt of Festus and Deborah Cordova of St. Louis; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brother, Ronald Yount; and two sisters: Alwena Banks and Aleta Aucup.
A funeral service was held Sept. 16 at Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus. Burial was in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4207 Lindell Blvd, St. Louis, 63108. Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
