Debra Kay Chotrow, 67, of Festus died Oct. 5, 2020, at Fountainbleau Nursing Center. Mrs. Chotrow had worked in the healthcare field as a CNA. She was a member of Festus-Crystal City Elks Lodge 1721 Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed watching “The Walking Dead,” a good cigarette, camping, fishing and hanging out with her grandson, Dylan. She was born Sept. 25, 1953, in Crystal City, the daughter of the late Calvin and Glenna (Mitchell) Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband: Chester Roosevelt Chotrow.
She is survived by four sons: Gary Bequette of Texas, Randy Bequette of Texas, Mark Smith Jr. of Festus and Daniel (Kate) Smith of Festus; a daughter: Jennifer Smith of Festus; four stepchildren: Tim Chotrow, Jeff Chotrow, Jeff Chotrow and Kathy Chotrow; three brothers: Dave (Kim) Taylor of Mississippi, Mark Taylor of Festus and Calvin (Jill) Taylor Jr. of Mississippi; seven grandchildren: Mark Smith III, Devin Merseal, Abby Smith, Gabby Smith, Dylan LaChance, Brandon LaChance and Joselyn LaChance; and two great-grandchildren: Sophie and Layla.
She was preceded in death by a stepson: Danny Chotrow; and a brother: Mike Taylor.
A graveside service is scheduled at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, in the National Cemetery at
Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus.
