Deborah Jo “Dodo” Birks, 67, of Festus died March 5, 2019, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Birks was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed parties and social gatherings with her family and friends and making crafts for her children and grandchildren. Born Feb. 13, 1952, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Juanita (Merseal) and Lee Emmitt Wilson.
She is survived by her husband: David Glen Birks; two daughters: Jennifer (Thomas) Becker of Festus and Lacy (Rich) Hosay of Crystal City; a son: Matthew (Mindy) Birks of Crystal City; three sisters: Cindy Bova of Crystal City, Audrey (Barney) Lewis of Estill Springs, Tenn., and Vickie (Glenn) Eisenbeis of Bloomsdale; a sister-in-law: Dolores Wilson of Crystal City; three grandchildren: Luke Becker, Noah Birks and Gunnar Hosay; and numerous family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by a sister: Joyce L. Thomas; a brother: Larry L. Wilson; and a brother-in-law: Joseph Bova.
Memorial gathering will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 221 Brierton Lane, Crystal City, followed immediately by funeral services officiated by Pastor Kyle Castens. Memorials may be made to the chaplain’s fund of the Mercy Health Foundation, 1400 Hwy. 61, Festus MO 63028. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
