David Matthew Campbell II, 54, of De Soto died Aug. 23, 2018. Mr. Campbell graduated from Hillsboro High School and served in the Navy, spending four years on the U.S.S Simpson (FFG-56). He made a career later on as a diesel mechanic and spent his free time singing, fishing, and working on anything with an engine. Born July 9, 1964, in St. Louis, he was the son of David and Helen (McClure) Campbell.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by five children: Nicole, Morgan, Brianna, Matthew and Greg; three grandchildren: Lily, Grayson and Kinsley; two siblings: Teresa (Ralph) Nunn and Sharon (Dale) Whittington; a dear friend: Debbie Dayton; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Louie and Eleanor (Walker) Campbell, William R. and Martha (Corbin) McClure; and twin babies.
Memorial visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the memorial services at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Memorials may be made to the United Service Organization, the Liver Cancer Association or any charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
