David Lee Dobbs, 59, of De Soto died Jan. 23, 2021, at his home. Mr. Dobbs had worked for Shapiro Bros. metal recyclers and was a self-employed “jack-of-all-trades.” He enjoyed working on cars, being outdoors, going camping, four-wheeling, floating, cooking and barbecuing for family and friends. Born Aug. 30, 1961, in Festus, he was the son of the late Ronald L. Dobbs Sr. and Marsha (Majors) Dobbs Copeland.
He is survived by three sons: Josh Dobbs of De Soto, Jacob Dobbs of Sullivan and Mark Dobbs of Hillsboro; two daughters; Amanda Dobbs of Crystal City and Crystal Dobbs of Hillsboro; two sisters: Diana (Richard “Lee”) Bivins of Festus and Kathleen Holt of O’Fallon; four brothers: Ronald L. Dobbs Jr., Robert Dobbs, Richard Dobbs and William Dobbs, all of Festus; and six grandchildren: Hannah, Chase, Riot, Kenai, Cameron and Ruby.
He was preceded in death by his stepmother: Virginia “Ginny” Dobbs; and his stepfather: Melvin Copeland Sr.
A celebration of life and graveside memorial service will take place at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
