David A. Brod, 76, of De Soto died Jan. 15, 2017, at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis County. Mr. Brod was a rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years. Born Dec. 22, 1940, in De Soto, he was the son of the late Oliver John and Cecilia “Sis” (Hamilton) Brod.
He is survived by his wife: Nancy (Meyer) Brod of De Soto; two children: Bill (Donna) Brod of De Soto and Cathy Battles of Hillsboro; a brother: Glenn L. (the late Jeanenne) Brod of Blackwell; and four grandchildren: Tia (Brad) Beran, Ryan Battles, Alexandria Battles and Jordynn Battles.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at the funeral home, officiated by Randy Murphy and Warren Hendrickson. Burial is in the Blackwell Masonic Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
