Hollingsworth, Brunson

Daniel Brunson Hollingsworth II, 84, of Bismarck, formerly of Hillsboro, died July 3, 2017, in Desloge.

Mr. Hollingsworth graduated in 1954 from Mehlville High School, where he was a member of the Air Force National Guard and the debate team. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and a juris doctorate from the University of Missouri in Columbia and began practicing law in 1963. A veteran of the U.S. Navy and a lifelong Democrat, he was a member of Joachim Lodge 164 in Hillsboro and a former Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney.

Born Sept. 3, 1932, in Bonne Terre, he was the son of the late William Strother and Amby Belknap Hollingsworth. He was named after his paternal grandfather and went by the name Brunson.

He is survived by his wife: Eileen Talley Hollingsworth of Bismarck; seven sons: William Strother (Kim) Hollingsworth II of Aiea, Hawaii, Herbert Moss (Jane) Hollingsworth of Imperial, John Hampton (Carol) Hollingsworth V of De Soto, Diomede Franklin (Jill) Hollingsworth of Victoria, James Walter (Alex) Hollingsworth of St. Louis, Thomas Eagleton (Misty) Hollingsworth of Victoria and Chance Daniel Hollingsworth of Ballwin; four daughters: Sallie Strother (Jim) Meine of Hillsboro, Katherine Julia (Doyle) Chilton of De Soto, Amby Lee (Mike) Mafort of Hillsboro and Mary Susan (Sharon) Hollingsworth of  Bonne Terre; a stepdaughter: Sherri Ann Prosser; a sister: Ann Reinheimer of St. Louis; his first wife: Nancy Moss Hollingsworth of Victoria, a friend: Jo Baumhoegger; 30 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson: Skyler McDonald; a great-grandson: Phoenix Mason; a brother: George Hollingsworth; and a friend: Mike Scharnhorst.

A funeral service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, July 8, at the Robert D. Brown Funeral Home Chapel, 103 Fourth St., in Hillsboro. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
