Curtis M. Compton, 28, of Murphysboro, Ill., died Oct. 3, 2020, at his home. Mr. Compton was a delivery person at Martel’s Pizza and formerly worked as a teacher’s aide at Murphysboro Junior High School. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, Rams and Blues fan and started the Sports Fanatics page on Facebook. He was born March 12, 1992, in Murphysboro, the son of Kimberly (Jim Underwood) Compton of Festus and Mike (Betty) Compton of Murphysboro.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandparents: Susie Hedrick of Festus, Troy and Mary Compton of Murphysboro and Alice Smith of Cutler, Ill.; three brothers: Lucas Underwood, Ziggy Underwood and Trevor Smith; two sisters: Zoe Underwood and Tonya (Nick) Rhodes; three nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a cousin: Trevor Compton; an uncle: Howard Hedrick; his grandfathers: Mike Hedrick, Kenny Harmon and Melvin Smith; and his great-grandfather: George (Fern) Litton.
A graveside service was held Oct. 9 at the Ava Evergreen Cemetery in Ava, Ill., officiated by Pastor Cecil Compton. Memorials may be made to the family. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home in Ava.
