Charles Robert “Bob” Shumaker, 82, of Arnold died May 8, 2019, in St. Louis. Mr. Shumaker was an Army veteran who served during the Cold War era. He was a member. He served with distinction with the 101st Airborne Division in the 1950s and later with the Missouri Army National Guard 138th Infantry. He was with the 880th Engineer Battalion when he retired in 1992.
He received a bachelor of arts degree in 1974 from Columbia College. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Adair County. He was born June 7, 1936, in Kirksville.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years: Esther Yvonne Shumaker; three children; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
