Charles E. Bley, 78, of Festus died Oct. 24, 2019, at his home. Mr. Bley was a member of the Legion of Mary. He loved to play and listen to music and he played the organ at many churches. Born March 11, 1941, in St. Louis, he was the son of Jesse Virginia (Watson) and William T. Bley.
He is survived by his wife: Florence K. (Roesch) Bley; whom he married June 8, 1968; nine children: Mary (Mark) Obiedzinski of Olive Branch, Miss., Karl (Lisa) Bley of Bonne Terre, Karen Bley of Nashville, Tenn., Eric Bley of Affton, Donald (Jeanee) Bley of Imperial, Kathy Bley of New Port, Mich., Anna (Ronnie) Nicoletti of Imperial, Joseph (Amanda) Bley of Bloomsdale and Linda Bley of St. Charles; six siblings: John (Sharon Kay) Bley of Columbia, William (Jacquelyn) Bley of Carlson, Nev., Robert (Eva) Bley of Farmington, Mary Anglemyer of O’Fallon, Rosie (Jim) Granich of Jefferson City and Donald (Rose) Bley of St. Louis; 28 grandchildren with another to be born; and eight great-grandchildren with two more on the way.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at Basler Funeral Home, 685 Center Drive, in Ste. Genevieve. Visitation will resume from 8-9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at St. Agnes Church, 40 St. Agnes Drive, in Bloomsdale, followed by a 10 a.m. service officiated by the Rev. Michael Benz and Jim Basler. Burial will be at St. Agnes Cemetery in Bloomsdale. Memorials may be made to the Sarnelli House. Arrangements are under the direction of Basler Funeral Home.
