Catherine A. Nelson, 83, of Arnold died May 21, 2017, in South Bend, Ind. Mrs. Nelson was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic faith. She was known for her homemade peanut brittle and enjoyed quilting and other needlecrafts. She was born Nov. 1, 1933, in House Springs, the daughter of the late Adam and Anna Ems. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years: Robert F. Nelson.
She is survived by three children: John L. Nelson of Fond Du Lac, Wis., Keith E. Nelson of Lafayette, Ind., and Allen J. (Kelly) Nelson of Niles, Mich.; eight grandchildren: Dylan, Victor, Dakota, Launie, Joe, Adam, Shaun and Morgan Nelson; a great-granddaughter: Emily Middleton; a brother: Arthur Ems of Arnold; and a number of siblings-in-law; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; cousins; and friends.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Burial was in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or any hospice organization. Arrangements were under the direction of Kutis Funeral Home in south St. Louis County.
