Carolyn Sue (Fadler) Bergmann, 66, of Festus died Feb. 6, 2017, at her home. Mrs. Bergmann was a member of First Baptist Church of Herculaneum/Pevely. She spent many years as a teacher, homeschooling her children and teaching in a private school. She enjoyed serving the Lord in various church ministries, and served as a foster parent to approximately 45 children over a span of 20 years. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and would open her heart and home to anyone in need. Born May 8, 1950, in Herculaneum, she was the sixth of 12 children of the late Floyd Truman and Virginia Lee (Hildebrand) Fadler. She was preceded in death by her husband: Warren William Bergmann.
She is survived by 10 children: Joy (Darin) Alvis of Erie, Pa., Lisa (Rob) Gerst of Bonne Terre, Sue (Michael) Crossland of Fenton, Jennifer Campbell of St. Louis, Jason Bergmann of St. Louis, Justin Cull of High Ridge, Joshua Bergmann of De Soto, Jesse Bergmann of Festus, Veronica Bergmann of Festus and Angel Schneider of Illinois;a stepdaughter: Karin (Greg) Kostich of Arnold; seven brothers: Robert (Judy) Fadler, Danny (Joy) Fadler, Dick Fadler, Terry (Jan) Fadler, Mike (Bessie) Fadler, Bill Fadler and Jim (Beverly) Brock; a sister: Diana (Dick) Williams; 23 grandchildren: Josiah Gerst, Elijah Gerst, Dalton Alvis, Dylan Alvis, Benjamin Gerst, Christian Gerst, Devin Campbell, David Crossland, Peyton Kostich, Melissa Alvis, Hannah Gerst, Elisabeth Gerst, Jonathan Gerst, Caleb Gerst, Kelly Campbell, Kynzie Bergmann-Glover, Alahna Crossland, Charity Gerst, Harrison Kostich, Warren Bergmann-Glover, Noah Gerst, Chloe Bergmann and Kailyn Bergmann; one great-grandchild: Sebastian Gerst; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by four sisters: Marie Elaina Hall, Gloria Ann Forshee, Brenda Kay Thompson and Toni Joyce Lay; a brother: Jeffrey Dean Fadler; a daughter: Carla Adell Bergmann; three grandchildren: Gabriel Gerst, Adalai Crossland and Liberty Grace Gerst; and two great-grandchildren: Harper and Nevaeh Gerst.
Visitation is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at First Baptist Church of Herculaneum/Pevely, 1315 Abbey Lane, in Pevely. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at the church. Burial is in the Sandy Baptist Cemetery in Hillsboro. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert D. Brown Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
