Carol Jean Lane, 88, of Arnold died Oct. 27, 2021. Mrs. Lane was a homemaker who attended McKinley High School until 11th grade, when she cared for her siblings. She was a member since 1961 of the First Baptist Church of Arnold, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, volunteered in the library, played softball, helped prepare Wednesday night meals, participated in the Women’s Mission Union and carried the Incorruptible Crown in the Easter pageant following her husband’s death. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, travel and watching birds. Born Dec. 4, 1932, in Belleville, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Irene (Palmer) and Leslie Lobslinger.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years: Robert Lee Lane, whom she married May 20, 1950, in St. Louis.

She is survived by three children: Debbie (Steve) Graham of Barnhart, Marlene (Bill) Goveia of Normal, Ill., and Jeff (Cyndi) Lane of Marthasville; a daughter-in-law: Laura Lane of De Soto; six grandchildren: Amanda (Garett) Dugan and Kristin Lane, both of Cape Girardeau, Andy (Abbie) Goveia of Normal, Ill., Victoria Lane of De Soto and Michelle Shurtleff and Blake Shurtleff, both of Wentzville; four great-grandchildren: William and Emmett Dugan and Riley and Maddie Goveia; four siblings: June Carr, Pat Lieb, Kenny Lobsinger and Donnie Lobsinger; and numerous family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Jackie Doss and Linda Atkins; a brother: Ronnie Lobsinger; a son: Roger Lane; and a daughter-in-law: Ruth Lane.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, at the First Baptist Church of Arnold, 2012 Missouri State Road. Visitation will resume from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, at the church, immediately followed by services officiated by Kenny Qualls. Burial will follow at Shepherd Hills Cemetery, 1925 Old Hwy. M, in Barnhart. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Arnold Library or St. Jude’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home.
