Keane, Carol

Carol Ann Keane, 86, of Cape Girardeau died July 6, 2022, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Mrs. Keane earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Missouri and enjoyed a 30-year teaching career, 25 years teaching first grade for the De Soto School District. She was a member of First Christian Church in Fetus, P.E.O. Chapter JA in Festus and NSDAR at Louisiana Purchase. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and baking desserts, embroidery, crafting, gardening, playing bridge and Hand and Foot card games. Born Dec. 15, 1935, in De Soto, she was the daughter of the late Cecelia Janette (Barbee) and Dr. John Paul Ingels. She was preceded in death by her husband: George Keane.

She is survived by two daughters: Karen (Ken) Wilson of Cape Girardeau and Susan Flagg of Denver City, Texas; three brothers-in-law: Kenneth Tourville of De Soto, Rodney Mulvania of Linn and Jim Dunlap of De Soto;  three grandchildren: Christopher (Amanda) Flagg, Rachel (Kyle) Klahs and Molly Olten; six great-grandchildren: Chloe Flagg, Waylon Flagg, William Flagg, Anton Klahs, Jonas Klahs and Theodore Klahs; two step-grandchildren: Thomas (Elora) Wilson and Matthew (Corbin) Wilson; a step-great-grandson: Judah Wilson; and many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by three siblings: Mary Jane Tourville, Paula Mulvania and Nancy Dunlap.

Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, July 22, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Burial is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to P.E.O. Chapter JA or NSDAR Louisiana Purchase. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
