Sago, Billie

Billie “Sue” Sago, 78, of Festus died June 11, 2018, at Crystal Oaks Nursing Center in Crystal City. Mrs. Sago was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and met her late husband while stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. After leaving the military, she worked as a file clerk for McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis until her retirement. She was an avid bowler and a member of the Quonset Lanes Bowling League. Born Oct. 9, 1939, in Muskogee, Okla., she was the daughter of the late Thelma Fern (Hawkins) Ridgeway and John William Conklin. She was preceded in death by her husband: Orville G. Sago Jr., whom she married on Oct. 3, 1961, in Germany.

She is survived by a sister: Peggy (the late Zach) Lightning of Muskogee; a sister-in-law: Teresa Conklin of Sand Springs, Okla.; and a nephew: Wayne Sanders of Columbia.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: James A. Conklin and Roger O. Bowen; and a sister: Connie (the late Jack) Sanders.

Visitation is at 10 a.m. and a funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by Pastor Terry Crank. Burial with full military honors is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
