Betty Juel Gegg, 89, of Festus died May 11, 2018, at Crystal Oaks Skilled Nursing Center in Crystal City. Mrs. Gegg was a licensed practical nurse at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Crystal City and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. She cooked regularly for church functions and supported Meals on Wheels and the Ozark Food Pantry. Born Dec. 7, 1928, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Verli (Walker) and Peter Potamitis.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Welton F. Gegg.
She is survived by three sons: Mark (Donna) Gegg of Festus, Stephen (Leslie) Gegg of Norfolk, Va., and David (Kathleen) Gegg of Festus; a daughter: Mary Dill of Festus; a sister: Barbara (Dave) Buchholz of Arcadia, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son: John (the late Brenda) Gegg; two sisters: Esther (the late Ralph) Griffith and Marjie (the late Jack) DeBoor; and a son-in-law: Mike Dill.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Sacred Heart Church, 555 Bailey Road, in Crystal City, officiated by Father Clark Maes. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
