Betty Jane Ray, 89, of De Soto died Oct. 9, 2018, at the Villas in De Soto. Mrs. Ray was a former employee of Shelley Drug in Herculaneum and Kroger in Crystal City. She attended Good News Community Church of Festus. Born May 10, 1929, in Herculaneum, she was the daughter of the late Essie (Lewis) and Dennis William “Bill” McClanahan.
She is survived by a brother-in-law: Elmo Blum of Herculaneum; two sisters-in-law: Virginia McClanahan and Doris McClanahan, both of De Soto; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Ruth Blum and Juanita “Cotton” (the late Don) Shelley; and two brothers: Lindell “Shorty” McClanahan and Leon P. “Buster” McClanahan.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 1101 Missouri Ave., in Crystal City, officiated by the Rev. David Duncan. Memorials may be made to Get Healthy De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home, Festus.
