Bernice G. Kingsland, 92, De Soto
Bernice G. Kingsland, 92, of De Soto died Dec. 22, 2025, at de Greef Hospice House in St. Louis. Mrs. Kingsland was a retired schoolteacher from the Hillsboro R-3 School District. She was a member of First Baptist Church of De Soto. Born Oct. 3, 1933, in Mineral Point, she was the daughter of the late Ida Bell (Howaka) and Georger Arthur Wigger. She was preceded in death by her husband: David H. Kingsland.
She is survived by five children: Pamela (Kevin) Lashley of Arnold, Sherry (Don) Golterman of Hillsboro, Suzanne (Mike) Shanks of De Soto, Michael (Kim) Kingsland of Blackwell, and Alan (Julie) Kingsland of De Soto; 12 grandchildren: Colby Shanks, Brittany (Andrew) Aubuchon, Erika (Joshua) Clifford, Garrett (Alyssa) Shanks, Cody Lashley, Kelsey (Cole) Euverard, Camille Lashley, Jacqueline Golterman, Allison (Mason) Nunnally, Austin (Cailyn) Kingsland, Alexis (Dominic) Punjani and Brycen (Grace) Kingsland; 11 great-grandchildren: Maddison Shanks, Paisley Aubuchon, Elsie Aubuchon, Drew Aubuchon, Veronica Shanks, Owen Nunnally, Beau Kingsland, Kasen Nunnally, Kasey Clifford, Baker Punjani and Conrad Kingsland; and a sibling: Evangaline Wigger of Bonne Terre.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Richard Wigger and Wyman Wigger; and two sisters: Iva Emily and Virginia Inman.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services at noon Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, at First Baptist Church, 2000 Grace Way, in De Soto, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Brad DeLaughter. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 1990 Grace Way, in De Soto, 63020. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
