Boyer, Bernard Blue

Bernard W. “Blue” Boyer, 83, of Hillsboro died Feb. 13, 2017, at his home. Mr. Boyer was a retired construction laborer for Goodwin Brothers Construction Company. He was also a corporal in the U.S. Army and a member of Amvets Post 48, Laborers Local 110, and a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6401. Born Feb. 16, 1933, in Arnault Branch, he was the son of the late Clarence and Mary (Boyer) Boyer.

He is survived by his wife: Mary “Loreda” Boyer of Hillsboro; five children: Tammy Varady of De Soto, Timmy (Nancy) Boyer of Park Hills, Marsha Boyer of De Soto, Deanna (Ken) Hotsenpiller of St. Clair and Craig (Kim) Boyer of Potosi; 10 grandchildren: Randy, Amy, Alex, Greg, Vanessa, Marissa, Brendan, Abigail, Gabrielle and Noah; and four great-grandchildren: Raegan, Kennedy, Ruby and Violet.

He was preceded in death by one son-in-law: Mark Ryan; and 14 siblings.

Funeral services were Feb. 16 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Hillsboro, officiated by Father Chris Holtmann. Burial was at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Hillsboro. Arrangements were under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
