Boyd, Benny

Benny L. Boyd, 81, of Hillsboro died March 30, 2018, at his home. Mr. Boyd was a mechanic for National Food Stores and a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in De Soto. Born Nov. 14, 1936, in Holcomb, Md., he was the son of the late Henry and Altha (Wright) Boyd.

He is survived by his wife: Mary Lou (Buckingham) Boyd of Hillsboro; three children: Steven (Gretchen) Boyd of Hillsboro, David (Darla) Boyd of Hillsboro and Michael Boyd of Fenton; Mary Lou’s children: Jerry (Michelle) Rainey of St. Peters, Sandra (Rodney) Highfill of Wentzville and Adam (Katie) Thomure of De Soto; five siblings: Don (Mary) Boyd of Wentzville, Billy (the late Nada) Boyd of Wright City, Charles (Jan) Boyd of Arnold, Lilly Ann (the late Lonnie) Rapert of Nixa and Carolyn (Jimmy) Hancock of Wright City; four sisters-in-law: Anna May Boyd of Flint, Mich., Dorothy Boyd of Springdale, Ark., Louise Boyd of Festus and     Nancy Boyd of Foristel; seven grandchildren: Tiffany Wright, Becky (Joshua) Kennon, Carrie (Jason) Miley, Christine Boyd, Phillip Boyd, Michael Scott Boyd Jr. and Ethan Nickolas Boyd; Mary Lou’s grandchildren: Rebecca, Eric, Jerry III, Crystal, Heather and Kole; seven great-grandchildren: Owen Wright, Raina Wright, Levi Kennon, Jude Kennon, Kayden Miley, Cuyler Miley and Jaxon Miley; and Mary Lou’s great-grandchildren: Noah and Reagan.

He was preceded in death by his first wife: Wanda E. (Morton) Boyd; a sister, Glenda (Gene) Rainwater; and five brothers: Wentzel, Doyle, Kenneth, Jimmy and Ricky Boyd.

A funeral service was held April 2 at First Free Will Baptist Church in De Soto, officiated by Brother Bob Thebeau. Burial was in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements were under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
