Alice Ann “Susie” Moses, 83, De Soto

Alice Ann “Susie” (How) Moses, 83, of De Soto died July 11, 2021, at Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur. Mrs. Moses was a member of Zion Methodist Church in Mapaville. She was an avid pianist and loved music. She also enjoyed reading, crocheting, riding horses and most of all, spending time with family. Born April 28, 1938, in Festus, she was the daughter of the late Walter C. and Eva Marie (Brumbaugh) How.

She is survived by her husband of 16 years: James L. “Jim” Johnston of De Soto; a son: Richard L. (Sarah Ann) Wainman of Chillicothe, Ill.; four daughters: Susan Marie (Karl) Meyer of Campton, Ky., Barbara H. (Kenneth) Groomer of Ulysses, Kan., Kathleen M. Weinmeister of De Soto, Laura L. (Nick) Cramer of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five stepsons: Derek J. (Melissa) Johnston of De Soto, Andrew J. (Carman) Johnston of Winfield, Ryan N. (Ashley) Johnston of De Soto, Nathan A. (Michaela) Johnston of Fort Meyer, Fla., and Aaron E. Johnston of Festus; three brothers: Walter T. How of Festus, David Allen How of Paris, Mo., James R. How of Springfield; 34 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by a brother: Samuel How; and two sisters-in-law: Bette L. How and Joan How.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday (July 15) at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N Main St., in De Soto. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday (July 16) at Zion Methodist Church, 100 Beckett St., in Mapaville. Burial will be in Zion Methodist Cemetery in Hematite. Memorials may be made to Kathleen Weinmeister for the Family Reunion Fund, 5905 Hwy. P, in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
