Alfred Leo Heidenreich, 79, of Festus died Jan. 20, 2021, at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Fenton. Mr. Heidenreich was a retired welder and pipefitter at the Rush Island Union Electric Co. plant. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member and deacon of Selma American Baptist Church of Festus. He enjoyed woodworking and studying history. Born Nov. 4, 1941, in Belleville, Ill., he was the son of the late Rosella Margaret (Wright) and Fred Henry Heidenreich.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years: Kathleen (Fortney) Heidenreich; a daughter: Jane Marie (Donald) Ackerman of Festus; a son: James Michael (Blake Aronson) Heidenreich of Springfield, Va.; six grandchildren: Claire Ackerman, Gabrielle Heidenreich, Trey Ackerman, Rhys Heidenreich, Marie Ackerman and Donald Ackerman Jr.; a sister-in-law: Barbara Anna; four nieces: Carol Leal, Theresa Gehlken, Wendy Maffei and Patricia Smith; two half-brothers: Stephen Slaughter and Thomas Anna; and a half-sister: Pamela Anna.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert Anna and Dennis Anna; a half-brother: Michael Slaughter; and his biological parents: Betty Jean Kelly Anna Slaughter and Alfred Leo Anna.
Services were private. Memorials may be made to the Walker Scottish Rite Clinic, 650 Maryville University Drive, St. Louis MO 63141. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Homes, Festus.
