Alden Stewart, 93, in De Soto, died Jan. 15, 2018, at Hillcrest Nursing Center in De Soto. Mr. Stewart was an auto worker for General Motors and a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during WWII. He was also a member of Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church, Amvets Post 48 and Elks Lodge of De Soto. Born June 28, 1924, in Webbville, Ky., he was the son of the late Candice Mae (Chaffin) and Max Stewart. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy R. Stewart.

He is survived by two daughters: Carol (Skip) Newbury of De Soto and Pam (Dennis) Young of De Soto; three sons: Ronald (Sandy) Stewart of De Soto, George Stewart of Bonne Terre and Jim (Cheryl) Stewart of Bloomsdale; one sister: Ethel Harwood of Grayson, Ky.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by two brothers: Jay Stewart and Maxwell Stewart; and three sisters: Verva Sowers, Gloria Perry and Merlie McDavid.

Funeral services were Jan. 18 at Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church in Ware, officiated by Pastor Dave Evans. Burial was at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church cemetery fund. Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in De Soto.
