The annual “Way to Go” photography contest, sponsored by Grand Times, Leader Publications’ magazine for seniors, is officially underway.
Jefferson County readers aged 50 and older are invited to send in their favorite travel or vacation photographs. One lucky winner, drawn at random from all eligible entries, will take home $200.
The contest is being held in conjunction with the De Soto Senior Expo, set for Wednesday, April 20, at the Knights of Columbus Hall on 13225 Hwy. E.
The April 14 issue of Grand Times will include information about the expo, along with as many entries as space allows.
Last year, Steven and Sherry Williams of Imperial won the grand prize with a 2018 snapshot of themselves in a 1911 Franklin touring car, driving through a giant redwood tree in California.
Their photo was selected at random from among the nearly 100 entries from around the county, depicting trips to places just down the road or halfway around the world.
The deadline to submit an entry for the contest is 5 p.m. Friday, April 1. There is a limit of two entries per person.
Anyone who entered the contest in previous years is welcome to enter again, but please submit photos from a different vacation for this year’s contest.
To be eligible for the contest, entries must include the following information:
■ Photographer’s name, age, address and phone number.
■ The date and place the photo was taken and by whom.
■ The names of any people in the photo.
Photos can date back to the reader’s childhood or be as recent as last week. Please write a brief description about why the trip was memorable.
Mail entries to Way to Go, Leader Publications, P.O. Box 159, Festus, 63028. or email to news@leaderpublications.biz. Photos may be dropped off at the Leader office at 503 N. Second St., Festus. For information, call the Leader at 636-931-7560.
