The Windsor C-1 School District officials have agreed to buy four small pieces of property neighboring its main campus along Hwy. 61-67 in Imperial.

Altogether the properties total more than one acre and will cost about $300,000.

The properties include a 0.77-acre parcel at 929 Windsor Harbor Drive, which will cost approximately $222,000, as well as three approximately 0.2-acre parcels at 942,944 and 946 Windsor Drive, which will cost a total of about $75,000 total.

According to the Jefferson County Assessor’s Office, the owners of record for 929 Windsor Harbor Drive property are trustees Jack and Adeline Cronin of Imperial. Jimmie and Pamela Miner of Imperial are the owners of record for 942 Windsor Drive, and Shirley Shindeler of Festus is listed as the owner 944 and 946 Windsor Drive.

Superintendent Joel Holland said the district is buying the property in anticipation of using it later.

“You don’t know what the district may need in the future,” Holland said. “We try to acquire properties bordering us.

“The 929 Windsor Harbor Drive property is next to our baseball field. The Windsor Drive acreage is across the street from the old Wonder Bread store off Hwy. 61-67.”

The Windsor Board of Education voted 7-0 Oct. 27 to approve the expenditure for the properties.
