Missouri Big Band

The Missouri Big Band will present “Swingin’ Under the Stars” from 6-9 p.m. Sunday (June 23) at West City Park in Festus.

Admission is free.

The band, a 17-piece St. Louis-based group that performs swing and jazz music from the 1930s, ’40s and ’50s by artists such as Count Basie, Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman, is made up mainly of current or retired music teachers and other adults.

The band is directed by retired Jefferson College music teacher Joe Pappas and features vocalist Joe Scalzitti, a graduate of Festus High School.

Concessions will be sold, and coolers are allowed.

Those attending should bring lawn chairs or blankets.
