It's summer, and the reading is easy.
The three branches of the Jefferson County Library are sponsoring their annual summer reading programs, and the kickoff to the program at the Windsor Branch in Barnart will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday (June 1) at the library, 7478 Metropolitan Blvd., Barnhart.
Free activities include face painting, sidewalk chalk art and balloon twisting. A shaved ice truck will be there.
For information on the event, call Patty Lagermann at 636-461-1914.
All three branches are holding summer reading programs along the theme "A Universe of Stories" and incentives are offered for children, teens and adults to read books during the summer.
For information on the programs at the Arnold branch, call Amy Held at 636-296-2204; for Northwest Branch information, call Julia Click at 636-677-8186.
