Mike Roberts will be the guest speaker at this year's Black History Luncheon.

The annual Black History Luncheon will be held Saturday (Feb. 24) at the Quality Inn, 1200 W. Gannon Drive, in Festus. The event will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tickets cost $30, and the event raises money for college scholarships and to help local residents struggling to pay utility bills, buy medication or meet other needs.

The Cultural Diversity Committee and the Giving Something Back to the Community organization are sponsoring the event, which the groups are calling “A Day of Celebration.”

This year’s guest speaker is Mike Roberts, director of business development and marketing at Visiting Nurse Association of Greater St. Louis. Roberts, formerly meteorologist with KSDK News in St. Louis, said when he was asked to speak at the event, he accepted right away.

“I think it’s an honor to be asked to do this,” Roberts said.

Musical entertainment will be provided by lyric soprano Brittany Graham, M.O.B.B. Jefferson County Jazz Club and Elvin Vaulx.

To buy tickets, call Earl Cook at 636-937-9443, Denise Brown at 636-932-0575 and Regina Herrington at 636-937-2248.
