Blood drive

With the holiday season behind us, it’s time to roll up our sleeves and help each other out.

The American Red Cross is holding a number of blood drives around the area this weekend.

Red Cross representatives say typically the supply of blood and platelets dip during the holidays because few blood drives are held while people are focused on other activities, so they’re trying to replenish reserves, which will further be tested by severe winter weather and seasonal illnesses, which can temporarily prevent some from giving.

Donors with all blood types are needed.

Those wishing to donate blood are asked to bring identification such as a driver’s license or a blood donor card.

For more information, call the Red Cross at 314-658-2000.
