Public Water Supply District 2 has issued a boil order following a water main break on Old Sugar Creek Road in unincorporated Fenton.
At about 9 a.m. this morning (June 14), the water district said it would take several hours before the main could be fixed and normal water use could be restored.
The water district, which is based in High Ridge, serves more than 10,000 customers in northern Jefferson County.
When a boil order is in place, customers need to boil water for at least three minutes before drinking it or using it to wash or prepare foods or to brush teeth.
Do not use ice from an automatic icemaker. Disinfect dishes and other items in water with 1 tsp of unscented bleach per gallon of water.
Typically, water for bathing does not need to be boiled.
