More than 300 people at the Crystal City Underground erupted in cheers Monday night when Patrick Thomson of Festus made it through the second battle rounds on “The Voice” singing competition.
They were at "the cave" to watch the episode that aired Monday night on NBC.
“It was pandemonium,” said Tom Kerr, who owns the Underground. “Everyone had a great time.
Thomson, 35, was not at the event, Kerr said, because he’s back in Los Angeles preparing for “The Voice” playoffs, which are lives shows.
Viewers get to start voting for their favorites during the playoffs.
On Monday night’s episode, Thomson battled fellow Team Shakira contestant Josh Murley, both singing Bryan Adams’ song “Run to You.”
Shakira said both performed well, but declared, “I need a voice like yours on my team,” and chose Thomson as the winner.
Thomson is a 1996 Herculaneum High School graduate and attended Jefferson College.
He is the son of Patricia Thomson of Barnhart and the late Edward K. Thomson Jr.
