Patrick Thomson of Festus was eliminated from “The Voice” singing competition in the playoffs round that aired last night (April 14) on NBC.
All five Team Shakira members performed a song of their own choosing, and Thomson sang Ray LaMontagne’s “Trouble” to rave reviews from all four judges. While Shakira said she enjoyed Thomson’s performance, she ultimately cut him from her team, along with Deja Hall.
St. Louisan Tess Boyer, however, made the cut and is one of Shakira’s top three team members who will go on to compete in the live performances.
Thomson, 35, is a 1996 Herculaneum High School graduate and attended Jefferson College.
He is the son of Patricia Thomson of Barnhart and the late Edward K. Thomson Jr.
Adam Levine also cut his team from five to three members on last night’s episode. Blake Shelton previously had trimmed his team to three.
After Usher makes his cuts tonight (April 15), the live performance shows will begin.
