One person was killed and another person was injured in a shooting on Wednesday in Miller County at a New Year's Eve party, according to a Friday news release from the Miller County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies arrived at the 1700 block of Missouri 42 outside of Brumley to find a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the upper chest, according to the news release.

Medics provided aid, but the man died at the scene, according to the news release.

An 18-year-old man, who was also shot, had been taken from the party to a nearby storage unit, where deputies found him with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to the news release. 

The 18-year-old was taken to a local hospital then airlifted to University Hospital for further treatment, according to the news release.

The identities of the victims are not released as the investigation continues, according to the news release.

The incident appeared to be isolated, and the Sheriff's Office said there is no threat to the public.

The Sheriff's Office did not release any information about suspects.
