The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has identified an Arnold woman who was found dead inside a vehicle that crashed and caught fire Friday, Dec. 26, as 70-year-old Sherry A. O’Neal.
According to a written statement from the Police Department, first responders were dispatched at 4:32 a.m. to a vehicle crash in the Arnold Commons shopping center and found a vehicle that had struck a tree fully engulfed in flames. The driver was found dead inside the vehicle.
“Preliminary investigation suggests the driver may have suffered a medical emergency, which led to the crash,” the agency reported.
Maj. Clinton Wooldridge said Monday morning the investigation was still ongoing. The Medical Examiner’s Office said a cause of death had not been determined as of Monday afternoon.
