A man has been accused of swinging a hatchet at a Callaway County lieutenant Wednesday morning, according to court documents.
Slade Lamont, 20, faces charges of first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action and a class A misdemeanor of resisting a lawful detention, according to court records.
According to the probable cause statement, Callaway County deputies arrived to serve a search warrant at a residence near State Road E and State Road DO around 7:00 a.m., Lamont's mother let them inside while Lamont was inside a bathroom.
A lieutenant called Lamont over as he was exiting the bathroom, and upon seeing the deputies, Lamont allegedly fled to his bedroom and closed the door, according to the probable cause statement. Deputies followed him, and Lacey had to push through the door, which had an object behind it, according to the statement.
When deputies entered Lamont's room, Lamont allegedly picked up a hatchet and swung it over his head at a downward angle, striking the lieutenant's leg, the statement said. Deputies took Lamont to the ground, who continued to resist arrest, the statement said.
Lamont was detained after deputies used a taser and pain compliance techniques, according to the statement.
"I don't care if they weren't coming for me, they were coming for all of us," Lamont allegedly told his mother in a later conversation about his resisting arrest. "I would have done anything to stop them."
A later search of Lamont's residence found multiple bottles of alcohol next to his bed despite him being under 21 years old, according to the probable cause statement.
Lamont is being held at the Callaway County Jail without bond. Further court dates have not been scheduled.
