A Camden County judge will consider a change of venue for the criminal case against Christopher Wehmeyer.
Wehmeyer is charged with second-degree murder and other felonies in connection to the death of Sunrise Beach police officer Phylicia Carson.
According to court records, Wehmeyer appeared before Judge Kenneth Hayden on Wednesday, and Hayden decided parties would meet again in his courtroom at 9 a.m. Jan. 7 to review the motion for a change of venue and set a trial date.
Last month a settlement was reached in a civil suit against Wehmeyer for causing the wrongful death of Carson.
According to previous KOMU 8 reporting, in August 2024, police said Wehmeyer fled from a traffic stop and Carson died after her patrol car crashed during a high-speed chase to catch him.
