Columbia police arrested a man Wednesday after a woman's death was ruled a homicide, according to a news release from the department.
Nicholas Ayres, 35, of Crane, was arrested on charges of second-degree murder and first-degree domestic assault, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.
Officers responded to a cardiac arrest call around 3:22 p.m. in the 1300 block of Range Line Street, according to the news release.
The By The Way Motel, located at the corner of Range Line Street and Lakeview Avenue, is the only address listed in that block.
Officers responding to the call said they believed the death to be "suspicious" and an investigation later revealed that the death was a homicide.
Police identified the victim as 37-year-old Destiny Dunn, of Kansas City, Missouri, according to the news release.
According to online records, Ayres is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond.
