Ricky Ross Deford was sentenced by Judge Brouck Jacobs to 17 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for the high-speed pursuit through Boone County, which resulted in a crash with a police vehicle.
Prosecuting Attorney Roger Johnson noted in a press release that this case marks the longest sentencing following the new aggravated resisting law in Boone County since it was created.
In August 2024, Deford fled from police at speeds over 100 miles per hour in residential areas in Columbia before crashing into a patrol vehicle.
Deford pled guilty to aggravated resisting arrest, kidnapping in the second degree, property damage in the first degree, leaving the scene of an accident, and careless and imprudent driving.
"We hope this sentence sends a clear message: if you endanger the community by fleeing at high speeds, you will face serious consequences," Johnson said in a press release.
