A Columbia man faces 10 felony charges in connection to a shots fired incident that led to a standoff over the weekend.
Rodquel R. Jones, 21 was arrested Sunday morning. He faces charges including stealing, six counts harassment, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action and resisting arrest for a felony.
Jones is accused of directly threatening six people, using a stolen handgun to shoot several rounds at the house where several people were and barricading himself in his home and refusing to come out, according to a probable cause statement.
According to a probable cause statement, Columbia police responded to a residence in the 5600 block of Lightpost Court on Saturday around 8 p.m., where they spoke to a someone who identified herself as Jones' mother.
Jones' mother and five other people told police that they had received several threatening messages from Jones, where he said he was going to show up to their residence and shoot and kill them, according to the probable cause statement. Jones' mother said he knew multiple family members were at her residence for the Thanksgiving holiday, according to the probable cause statement.
Jones' mother also said she realized she was missing a gun after Jones made a comment on Facebook stating he had stolen one of her firearms, according to the probable cause statement.
Police left the residence around 10:35 p.m. after speaking to the victims, and received multiple shots fired calls at the same home about 13 minutes later at 10:48 p.m., according to the probable cause statement. Officers at the scene saw the home evacuated with no one inside and no damage to the home, according to the probable cause statement.
Columbia police officers then went to Jones' residence on Sieville Avenue, where Jones barricaded himself inside, according to the probable cause statement. Police said Jones' pregnant girlfriend was also inside the residence, according to the statement.
The CPD SWAT team eventually conducted a search warrant on Jones' residence, and he was taken into custody Sunday morning after several hours, according to the probable cause statement. Officers also found Jones' mother's stolen gun, according to the statement.
Jones is being held in the Boone County Jail without bond, according to jail records. An initial appearance was set for Jones Monday afternoon at the Boone County Courthouse, according to online court records.
