An arrest of a 20-year-old Mississippi man in connection with the shooting of star Mizzou running back Ahmad Hardy was made early Friday morning in Paducah, Kentucky, multiple outlets are reporting.

Rashodrick Harris of Waynesboro was arrested without incident around 1:30 a.m. Friday by the Paducah Police Department after it got a hit on his car tag from the National Crime Information Center database, The Laurel Leader-Call reported.

Harris was arrested on suspicion of two counts of aggravated assault, according to Laurel Police Department Sgt. Macon Davis. In addition to the charges related to the shooting, he is faces a count of being an out-of-state fugitive in Kentucky.

Harris is being held at the McCracken County Jail in Kentucky. He is expected to be extradited to Mississippi as soon as possible. If Harris refuses an extradition order, a hearing will be held to send him back to Misssissippi for a trial.

“He’s going to be extradited one way or the other,” Laurel Police Department Davis told the Laurel Leader-Call. “If he fights it all the way, we’d have to end up with a governor’s warrant. But it absolutely will happen.”

A hearing is not expected in Paducah until Monday.

The shooting of Hardy, 20, and one other victim took place early Sunday morning after a concert at the Kamakazy Biker Club in Laurel, Mississippi.

Three men were originally jailed by the LPD, believed to be connected with the shooting. But they were quickly released from custody.

While attempting to leave the concert by vehicle, Hardy — who is from Oma, about an hour and 15 minutes west of Laurel — was hit by a bullet in the upper leg at around 2 a.m. Sunday. He underwent surgery later Sunday at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg and returned to Columbia by Tuesday.

Hardy will need time to fully recover before any decisions are made regarding his playing status.

He led the Southeastern Conference with 1,649 rushing yards and scored 16 touchdowns last season. Similar offensive production would be expected in his junior campaign, and he’s already received buzz as a potential first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.
