An inmate at the Jefferson City Correctional Center died at the Capital Regional Medical Center last Friday.
According to a news advisory from the Missouri Department of Corrections, Edgar Bilyeu, 78, was pronounced dead at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 17.
Bilyeu was serving 20 years for charges of statutory sodomy and two counts of third-degree child molestation out of Miller County. He had been serving his sentence since August 2018.
The Department of Corrections said no autopsy would be performed.
